- "TO GLORIFY GOD."
Man's chief and highest end is to glorify God.
This is no more true of the individual than it is of the church.
The Scripture repeatedly point this out as the primary purpose of the Church.
(Romans 15:6,9), (Ephesians 1:5,6,12,14,18)
- "TO EDIFY ITSELF."
"And He gave some, apostles, and some, prophets and some evangelists, and some pastors and teachers.
For the perfecting of the saints, for the work of the ministry, for the edifying of the body of Christ."
- "TO PURIFY ITSELF."
"Christ gave Himself to the Church, that He might sanctify and cleanse it with the washing of water by the word,
That He might present it to Himself, a glorious church, not having spot, or wrinkle,or any such thing;but that it should be holy and without blemish."
- "TO EDUCATE ITS CONSTITUENCY."
We have seen above, that God's gifts to the church are Apostles, Prophets, Evangelists, Pastors and Teachers, is for 'the perfecting of the saints, and for the working of the ministry.'
- "TO EVANGELIZE THE WORLD."
The Great commission directs the Church to go into all the world and make disciples of all nations.
(Matthew 28:19) Mark 16:15) (Acts 1:8).
